Listening to: (White Man) In Hammersmith Palais - The Clash

Singapore. Has many, and I mean many races from all sorts of religions. And that brings many problems. Some range from the major problem like race riots, and some minor, like reality contests. Why reality contest you ask? Why take the recent Singapore Idol contest. The contest is supposedly about the singing talent, and not which community wins, or plainly said, which race wins. That is also one of the sole reasons why I don't like reality contests, especially the ones which is targetted to all races of Singapore.

The 2 winners of Singapore Idol are Taufik Batisah, and recently Hady Mirza. Both are Malay Muslims. Before the announcement of the winners, even before the final songs were belted out, my family were always damning Jonathan Leong, a Chinese. Yes he has astounding bass vocals that even Carlos Barat would be proud off, and he has amazing charisma that he could be evenly match with Tom Cruise. But why does my family damn him to lose, well basically he is a Chinese. Even friends in school, Malay friends, predicted Johnathan would lose. Why? Because the Malays support the Malays. Simple as that.

Just now in class I overheard a Chinese girl talking to a Malay friend of mine. Here it goes.
Chinese girl(CG): Wahlau, Johnathan lose liao, sian sian.
Malay Girl(MG): Yalah, Hady from last time can win already.
CG: No lah Johnathan better then stupid Hady! (giggles)
MG: Your head lah! Alah, Hady already won, so you can't do anything about it
CG: Ya lah because you support Malay mah!
MG: Ya lah! Then support the Chinese fella which has no vocal talent?

I'll end it there. See. Yes im not saying Hady isn't good, he is a wonderful find for Singapore, and I dare say he is more versatile than the previous SI winner. He also has his charming looks and the guy-next-door attitude, but im not complaining about the results, im complaining about the way Singaporeans treat everything, almost everything racially. So if Singapore really wants to be best at everything, they should stop treating everything racially, even the minor ones. And still one more thing, why does the Chinese occupy the senior roles in the Singapore Parliament and Government? Why? Is it because we can't speak Mandarin? And why does Mandarin has to be the most learned language? Why not French? Why not Latin? Ah this questions will be unanswered, 'cus you know why? I don't need the Parliament.
